STEPPING STONES SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL staff gathered in all mirth and merry to celebrate India’s 76th Independence Day. This day is celebrated every year to commemorate the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and to enjoy the spirit of freedom.
The day saw the unfurling of the National Flag and a parade by the NCC cadets. The Principal, Mrs. Anu Kumar took the salute and unfurled the tricolor, while the school choir sang the National Anthem.
An Independence Day event ensued wherein the students showed immense enthusiasm by presenting a series of events to show their love and respect for their nation.
Children from the International Wing presented a dance on a mix of patriotic songs giving a nationalistic fervor to the start of the presentation. It got the students motivated for more.
This was followed by a Skit showcased by the L.T.S. Club highlighting the fact that the bond of a person with his nation is unaffected by his religion, race, colour or any economic background. That no one can harm our nation, if we all are united and protect her together. The Skit was juxtaposed with a colourful rendition of patriotic songs by School Choir thereby enthusing a spirit of nationalism amongst the students. The combined presentation was appreciated by all.
What followed was a Classical Dance extravaganza presented by students of Classes 6th & 7th based on the song Vande Matram and Mere Desh Ki Dharti.
The Grande Finale was an energetic performance by Class 8th and 9th girls on the song Desh Rangila. The children enjoyed every bit of the presentation, with the Tri Colour in their hands being waved around. The whole school reverberating with the chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Matram’.
Director Academics Sunil Sir, gave a speech, wherein he wanted the children to acquire 21st century skills and at the same time understand the value systems of our culture from the ages gone by.
The school principal Mrs. Anu Kumar congratulated the school on Independence Day and hoped the students cherish the freedom acquired and learn to be better and responsible citizens.
